Testimonials

Alpharetta Public Safety (APS) Foundation Fundraising Supports Individuals and Provides Critical Training and Programs. These are just a few of the recipients who thank you for your support:

Support for Local Law Enforcement, First Responders, Public Safety Employees & Their Families

  • When my daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia, financial assistance from the APS Foundation helped our family in the first weeks following her diagnosis.

  • A contribution from the APS Foundation allowed me to spend quality time with and assistance with medical treatments for my critically ill brother.

  • The Foundation provided Paid Family Leave for two weeks following the birth of my second child, in the first year of my employment with the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety.

  • A severe medical issue in 2016 left me hospitalized for several months. My disability payments covered roughly 2/3 of my income, which covered our regular bills. The Foundation provided funds to help cover some of my medical bills, and donations from City employees helped bridge the gap in my salary, while the Director regularly checked on us to make sure we were doing all right.

Programs for a Safer, More Connected Community

  • A scholarship I received from the APS Foundation has proven instrumental in my educational endeavors. Such programs strengthen the sense of community in which the APS operates.

  • When my niece was attacked by two vicious pit bull dogs while on a walk, she sustained extensive damage to her body. My mother and father-in-law have custody of my niece, and the Foundation provided funds to cover some of our hotel bills, food, gas, and loss of income, to alleviate the strain of my niece’s three-month hospital stay.

  • My brother passed away in 2012, and his children were staying with me. When my furnace broke during their stay, we received funds to help us through that financially and emotionally trying time.

Training, Safety Checks, and Neighborhood Visits

  • My family is grateful for the generosity shown us by the Foundation following a house fire in 2021. The support helped us financially, but also provided much-needed emotional support.

Equipment Purchase & Training to Maintain Highest Levels of Performance & Productivity

  • I approached the Foundation with a proposition for new pediatric bags for our first response kits. The Foundation provided approximately $12,000 for new bags and equipment, enabling our department to have uniform pediatric kits on each engine, giving children and infants a greater chance of survival during resuscitation efforts.

  • After vehicles were broken into at some of our Fire Stations, the Foundation provided funds to cover the cost of repairs or insurance deductibles.

Training & Programs Related to Disaster Relief & Support

  • Following heavy storms in our area, our rental house flooded, resulting in the loss of everything that touched the floor. We did not yet have rental insurance, and the Foundation provided $1,000 to help our family
